Greetings, Christian Writerpreneur!
Welcome to another Empowering Post, where I teach you valuable, actionable lessons that will help you launch your writing ministry.
I'm Felecia Killings, and I've been working with Christian Authors for several years now. I'm deeply committed to helping you discover your purpose for your writing ministry, and I provide the training solutions that enable you to make your vision a reality.
With every article that I publish, I want to give you different tips and lessons that you can start implementing today.
Building a writing ministry is much more complex than what many new authors realize.
Therefore, it's my mission to help make your journey easier to understand and manage.
In today's post, I want to teach you about how to properly invest in your writing ministry, even as a new author.
There are so many entrepreneurs who are vying for your attention and your money, and sometimes this can be overwhelming, especially as a new Christian Author.
So, what I want to do today is give you the five must-haves for your new writing ministry. I'll also share with you why these elements are important, and how I have used them to help me move forward in my work.
More specifically, this article will teach you about:
So, grab your notepad and pen, and let's spend some time discussing the "5 Business Elements to Invest in Each Year as a New Christian Author."
You Must be Willing to Invest Time into Your Ministry
It never fails.
Whenever I connect with a client or a student, one of the common statements they make is, "I didn't know it required all this."
Whenever new or aspiring Christian Authors get the idea to write and publish a book, they make costly assumptions about the process.
They assume that their books will automatically sell because God gave them the idea.
They assume that people will automatically purchase hundreds of their books simply because they may be listed on Amazon.
They assume that all they have to do is write books and everything else will take care of itself.
That's a faulty mistake, and one that I don't want you to make.
When it comes to building your writing ministry, you need to see yourself as building your own business. There's no difference.
You have to give time and energy to your work, otherwise it will die.
If you don't nurture your writing ministry, no one else will.
You must learn to become productive with your ministry, and that means adopting effective time-management skills.
You must learn how to be skilled in planning the execution of your writing ministry.
You must learn to adopt certain behaviors so that your ministry thrives for a lifetime.
When you master these skills, you will find that your work will grow over time, because you have learned to invest time into everything you do.
I know that this can be challenging, especially because you are new to the publishing industry.
I know that it can seem daunting to complete everything that needs to be done, especially if you're working on your ministry as a solo-preneur.
But you can't allow excuses, procrastination, and a lack of persistence to stop you from walking in your calling.
This is something that I train my students to do. I want them to learn how to properly prepare themselves for long-term success in their writing ministry.
I teach them about planning their business, managing their time wisely, and setting SMART goals.
To help them accomplish this even more, I've created a new planner that tailors to their needs as a new Christian Writerpreneur.
And when you become a student in my school, you will receive this planner as a complementary resource.
Time is valuable, and you must learn to use it wisely. What you sow in your ministry today, you will eventually reap during a time of harvest.
You Must be Willing to Invest Money into Your Writing Ministry with the RIGHT Training
I can't stress this point enough.
Your writing ministry and business will only succeed based on your willingness to invest in the right training for your work.
This is what I discovered back in 2015 as I observed my business stagnating.
I hated that I couldn't scale my work so that I generated more income.
But I realized that the only way I could change my situation was to invest in my education and training.
That's when I began purchasing relevant books on business and entrepreneurship.
I purchased online courses that helped me better understand certain elements of entrepreneurship.
Even when I had very little to spare, I took that little and purchased my education, because I needed to prove to myself that my ministry was worth it.
And you must do the same thing.
If you want to see your writing ministry flourish, then you must invest financially in the training that's provided to you.
Now, I have to admit: Back in 2015, I could not find any class or school that specifically taught me how to truly thrive as a Christian Author. That's why I turned to general entrepreneurial resources to help me understand certain concepts.
But I still wanted to have resources that specifically addressed me as a Christian Author who wanted to walk in her calling effectively.
That's when I decided to create my online school, because I realized that I was not the only one who needed this type of training.
And since sharing my knowledge and expertise with other writers, I have watched my students and clients soar in their ministries.
I want the same thing for you, Dear Writerpreneur. But no one will simply hand over to you all the golden nuggets that will make you wealthy and prosperous in your ministry.
You must first be willing to prove to yourself that your writing ministry is worth you making financial investments into it.
If you're not going to invest in your work, neither will others. Again, it goes back to the principles of sowing and reaping.
If you sow a little in your work, only expect a small return.
But when you generously invest in your training--in the RIGHT training!--you will experience success beyond your current dreams.
My work is a living testimony of this.
To help clarify this point even more, you must invest in your training by hiring a writing coach and mentor. Not only that, but you need training in understanding the multi-layers of running a business.
This is what I provide to you as a student in the Empowered Writerpreneurs Program.
But even if you choose not to move with my services, start seeking out an expert who will work well with you. You will not regret it!
You Must be Willing to Invest in Your Author Platform
Your Author Platform is crucial to your success in the online space.
If you want to build a following of loyal, committed readers, then having an Author Platform is tantamount.
Your Author Platform is your online space where you make direct connections with your readers.
Your Author Platform includes your website and any other content marketing medium that you use as a part of your marketing strategy.
One of the requirements that I have for all my clients and students is that they have a blog as a part of their Author Platform. As a writer, you must demonstrate your expertise with you audience in the manner that you want them to receive you.
Building an Author Platform means providing consistent, ongoing content for your audience, even before you ask them to purchase your books and other products.
Without an Author Platform, it is nearly impossible for you to succeed, especially because readers and consumers expect entrepreneurs (and writerpreneurs) to have an online space for them to visit.
If building your Author Platform is a struggle for you, then I encourage you to purchase my latest e-book, Building an Author Platform that Works!
This resource will go through 15 different lessons that teach you the science of building your platform the right way so that you begin to attract the right audience for all of your products.
When done effectively, your Author Platform can help you land speaking engagements, enroll high-paying clients into your coaching program, and even help you sell thousands of books each year.
Your Author Platform has the potential to take your writing ministry across the country and around the world!
And that's why it's important to be willing to invest in its development.
Again, when you do this correctly, the rewards will be outstanding.
You Must be Willing to Invest in Effective Marketing Endeavors
Nearly all new and aspiring Christian Authors avoid this topic: marketing.
This is because most of them simply want to focus on writing their books and nothing more.
They want publishers or other people to promote their works while they focus exclusively on writing content.
And if you have thousands and thousands of dollars to spend on those kinds of services, then go for it!
But for most new Christian Authors, they don't have the resources to do that.
So, what are they to do?
Invest in their own marketing efforts.
New Christian Authors can use inexpensive, cost-effective strategies to promote their books and other products when they employ content marketing techniques.
Remember earlier when I told you that blogging was an important element of the Author Platform?
That's because blogging is a type of content marketing tool that you use to help you promote what you intend to sell.
Consider how I'm currently using my blog posts to promote the products that I have for sale.
Through my blog posts, which are my teaching lessons, I share with you powerful suggestions that you can apply today. And then I embed my paid products seamlessly within each article.
That's how you can use blogging to your advantage, too, and it's a great way for you to continue writing while simultaneously marketing your ministry.
I wrote another e-book about this very topic called Content Marketing: A Guide for Christian Authors and Writerpreneurs, and I encourage you to purchase it. (It comes with your purchase of Building an Author Platform that Works!)
I discuss the different types of content marketing tools that Christian Authors can use; and I share how you can apply them to your particular writing ministry.
I also teach extensively about content marketing in the Empowered Writerpreneurs Program.
In fact, I have several courses inside the school that dive deeply into various marketing endeavors such as Facebook marketing, Pinterest marketing, e-mail marketing, building your Author Platform, and blogging.
If you want to know how to use all of these elements--and how to put your marketing strategies on autopilot--then make plans to enroll in the Empowered Writerpreneurs Program this year.
I promise to teach you how to make marketing your writing ministry fun and exciting for you and your audience.
You Must be Willing to Invest in the RIGHT Publishing Services
Now, here's what I mean by this:
Whether you decided to traditionally publish or self-publish, you need to do your homework.
You need to work with a reputable company that provides quality services for your needs.
If you want to traditionally publish, then you have to study that industry; and you have to find a company that is willing to take on your project. This is an especially challenging feat, particularly for new authors.
But if you move along the self-publishing route, you will find that it's easier to get your books printed and published.
But you still need to present a high-quality product.
There are thousands of service providers who can help you with your publishing needs, such as creating your book cover, developing your website, printing your copies, and much more.
And with LiyahAmore Publishing, I've also developed a dynamic publishing package for you if you are looking to build and launch your writing ministry within 6-12 months.
Everything that I've shared with you in terms of investing time in your training and development comes with the LiyahAmore Publishing Package.
I provide direct coaching to my clients, and I deliver the services that are needed to have their ministries up and running within months.
This publishing package also includes my marketing services, which include promoting your books and writing ministry.
I also ensure that you have a plan of action so that once my services are completed, you can replicate all the training you have received for your future projects.
My expectation with this publishing package is that you won't have to invest thousands of dollars anymore for each project once you have gone through the training.
And this is not something that you will receive from other independent publishers, who will only be concerned with you hiring their expensive packages each year.
With LiyahAmore Publishing, you make a significant investment the first year, and then you have everything you need to thrive for the remaining years of your ministry.
In the end, you learn and you save.
Here's Your Takeaway
As I shared in the introduction, there are thousands of entrepreneurs who are vying for your attention and money.
And when you are just entering the publishing industry, it's hard to determine which services you should spend time with and what you should purchase.
So, your takeaway is that you make wise investment decisions based on the five elements that I tackled in this article.
These are most important, because they will put you on the right path towards success.
So, I know that this lesson was a bit extensive, but I pray that it blessed you.
Why don't you let me know your thoughts about this article.
And if you are interested in learning more about how I can directly help you on your journey of Christian Writerpreneurship, connect with me today. I respond to all e-mails within 24 hours, and I would love to help you walk in your calling full-time.
And as always, let's grow together!
