Bless the Lord, Christian Author!
Welcome to another Empowering Post where I teach you powerful lessons that will help you build the writing ministry of your dreams.
In today's post, I continue with my latest series on how to be most productive as a new Christian Author.
This article is lesson 6 in the series, and you can watch and read the previous lessons here.
As you will come to learn throughout your journey as a new Writerpreneur, your success depends a lot on the energy that you give to your ministry.
Nothing good will ever happen by chance or luck.
And one of the best ways to prepare yourself for the great things that God wants to do through you is to position your mind to be most effective.
That's what I aim to teach you through this Productivity Series.
For today's article, let's explore one of the more important elements of thriving as a new Christian Author.
I want to inspire you to think about your physical health and how this can assist you in being most productive.
Always remember that we are a tri-being.
We are a spirit, made in the image and likeness of God.
We have a mind and a will, which are embedded in our soul.
And we live in a body.
If we want to accomplish and fulfill the will of God in the earth, then it's important that we take care of the physical vessel that He has given to us.
So, as you read today's post, I want you to keep in mind the following points:
Now let's dive into this teaching.
Good Health Begins In Your Mind
If you've been with my writing ministry long enough, then you know that I deal quite heavily with understanding the power of your mind and your will.
I teach my students in the Empowered Writerpreneurs Program how important it is for them to use their mental power to usher in the kind of writing ministry that they desire.
I teach them that "Whatever a man thinks in his heart, so he is" (Proverbs 23:7).
And whatever they long for in their writing ministry, it will first begin with a great idea.
When it comes to walking in good physical health, the mind is just as important to this process.
In other words, just as you would imagine having a thriving writing ministry, you must also see yourself as walking in health and wholeness in your mind.
Again, everything begins with your thoughts and ideas; and when these ideas are in the forefront of our minds each day, they eventually lead to their physical manifestations.
Another way to say this is if you envision yourself walking in good health, then you will eventually see it manifested in the natural.
Now, good health is something that is unique for each person.
I certainly wouldn't call myself a health expert...no, my ministry focuses on other things.
But I do know that because we are each different, then our health needs are different and will require a special care.
There are many people who believe that good health means being a certain size.
Some will think that the skinnier a person is, the better.
Some would argue the opposite.
But good health can be--and should be--very simple.
It's when you know that your body is working for you; and you only put into this body that which will help it thrive.
I won't use my time to give you a list of great food products to consume; neither will I give you a list of "What not to do."
That's not the point of this lesson.
Instead, I want you to take some time to examine how your current health can be improved when you begin to think differently about yourself.
When you look in the mirror, do you like what you see?
When you wake up in the morning, do you like how you feel?
When you think about yourself, are you pleased with the person that God made you to be?
If your answers to these (and other) questions are "no," then no matter what you do physically will help you become more productive in your writing ministry.
Because your physical health truly begins in your mind.
When you renew your mind--as the Word teaches us--then you bring it under the obedience of Christ.
And when submitted to His leading and guiding, He will show you what He sees about you.
That's truly powerful, and I hope that you can appreciate the way the Lord works in this manner.
God is concerned with your physical health just as He is concerned with your writing ministry.
Why? Because He has a mission and assignment for you to complete.
But you won't finish this race if you are doing things that negatively affect your body.
If you want to make a change in your health so that you are most productive with your work, then start seeing yourself in a different light.
Your good health firstly begins in the mind.
Good Health is Essential to Your Success
Remember that time when you sat down to write that great article or to add a new chapter to your manuscript...
You thought that you could get a lot of work done, but you found that it was difficult to stay focused.
This is something that often happens to the best of us.
And when we find ourselves in this kind of rut, we become frustrated and ultimately unproductive.
Most likely, what's happening is that our bodies have not received enough blood flow that will help us to be more alert and energized.
And the best way to address this is to increase our daily exercise.
Now, I don't know about you, but when I hear the word "exercise," I get a little bothered by it.
The term connotes an extraneous amount of work that I simply don't want to do because I have many other tasks to complete.
But exercise doesn't have to be complicated or exhaustive.
It can actually be fun.
One of the ways that I love to boost my energy is by taking walks around the neighborhood and the local parks.
Not only do I help tone my body, but this is also a great way for me to generate new ideas for my writing ministry.
I also enjoy doing Pilates, which is a great form of exercise that doesn't require extensive cardio (I hate cardio) but allows for optimal strength for my particular body.
When it comes to increasing my energy and blood flow, I think about the things that I love to do and I make them a part of my lifestyle.
I don't concern myself with trying to go to the gym every week or doing all the other exercises that people do, because I have learned to work with what I love.
And you should do the same.
As I shared before, we are different. Your physical health needs won't be the same as mine.
What I may love to do you may not like.
But the key is to find that one physical activity that you enjoy, and make it a part of your lifestyle.
Try to get involved with something that will also enable you to think positively about your writing ministry.
Again, taking long walks around my neighborhood helps me to relax and to reflect on my writing ministry.
Perhaps jogging or joining a dance class will do the same for you.
Whatever it is, make exercise important, because the research proves that with increased energy, you will become more productive in your work.
Good Health Will Be Achieved Over Time
Let's face it...
We live in a fast-food culture.
We want quick results, and we want them now.
We have become so accustomed to seeing different results happening within a matter of days rather than years.
And for many people, it can become frustrating when they don't achieve the results that they think they should in a shorter time frame.
The same can be said of walking in good health.
I'm a huge fan of the phrase, "Slow and steady wins the race."
I love this philosophy because it aligns well with the biblical principles of growth and prosperity.
Whenever I am working with my clients and students, I am constantly reminding them that they don't have to rush this process of growing their writing ministries.
They can add to their work day by day, and over time, they will witness profound results.
And the same can be said when it comes to achieving good health, Dear Writerpreneur.
If you want to be most productive as a new Christian Author, then appreciate the fact that good health is something that can be obtained over time.
Habits will not be formed over night.
They will manifest once you have repeated healthy behaviors over a period of time.
While you might feel that time is your enemy, in truth, time is a blessing.
With it, you can accomplish whatever you put your mind to do.
And when you set your focus on becoming healthier and more productive, time will enable you to make this a permanent habit that will yield unending success.
Don't be in a rush all the time.
Appreciate the process and value the energy that you are putting into your health each day.
As you do this, you will see just how much your writing ministry is impacted by your good health.
Good Health Makes You More Effective With Your Readers
I have to confess: I have this pet peeve when it comes to people who claim to be experts in the online space.
These experts will promise people wonderful things...
Yet these same experts have failed to apply their own teachings to their works.
For example, it always baffles me when I see a relationship expert talk to people about how to have a powerful marriage...
But these same people have never been married.
Or when people talk to me about making millions of dollars through my online business...
But they haven't made $10,000 in their own business yet.
It's just a strange phenomenon, and I to be honest, it repulses me.
As a reader, I expect the people who are teaching me something to also be applying their own materials to their lives.
If they're not, then they are frauds...at least to me. (It may not be that way for you.)
And this is something that your readers will be examining about your work, too.
When you begin to minister to your audience, the people want to see how you are applying biblical principles to your walk.
If you are teaching them about being strong in their mind and body, then you have to be strong as well.
I'm not saying that you have to be perfect, but you must be willing to walk the journey before them so that they come to trust your knowledge.
People are looking for answers.
They are looking for solutions.
They are looking for examples.
And you are their witness.
As you seek to build a writing ministry that will truly impact the world, then understand that you have to be willing to take care of yourself firstly.
There's nothing selfish about this, either.
It's about maximizing the gift that God has provided to you.
Listen, I have watched Ministry Leaders for decades now. And I have seen how they have neglected their physical health in exchange for overextending their ministries.
And there's nothing holy or wonderful about that.
Ministry Leaders who neglect their health aren't on a higher spiritual plain simply because they devote all their time to the spirit realm.
Because if they continue on this path, they will only be present in the earth for a few decades.
But the world needs them for a lifetime.
The body needs to be cared for just as much as the spirit man and the mind.
To neglect one over the other is to do a great disservice to one's self.
So, Christian Author, as you are working on your writing ministry, always remember that your physical health must be cared for.
Your readers and audience members want you stick around for the long run.
They don't want you publishing a couple of books, and then hearing how you went home to be with the Lord because of heart failure.
Take care of your body.
Nurture it and keep it in good health.
Nourish it with the kind of foods that it needs so that your body can continue to serve you in your ministry.
And as you strive to take care of this temple that God gave you, watch how your temple begins to work on your behalf.
