why affiliate marketing is a great way for authors to increase sales for their books and other products
Greetings, Dear Writerpreneur,
I pray that you are well.
Welcome to another Empowering Post, where I teach you valuable lessons that will impact your Christian authorship.
Today's article focuses on marketing. This is a topic that I teach quite often in my blog and to my network, particularly because new and aspiring Christian Authors lack in knowing what to do.
Marketing is not simply you sharing your book cover in social media groups, or telling a few friends about your upcoming work.
Marketing as a Christian Author is more about providing value to your ideal readers even before they decide to invest in your product.
There are certainly many ways that you can create an effective marketing plan, such as employing content marketing, hiring a content marketing specialist, working with a PR firm.
But another method that you can use is by establishing an affiliate marketing plan, one that will enable other people to promote your product, which in turn helps you earn more money. And that's what I want to discuss in today's post.
So, let's get into this article, and I hope you learn a lot from it.
What Is Affiliate Marketing?
Before I dip into the meat of this article, let me give you a definition of affiliate marketing.
This method of marketing allows anyone to promote another person's or business's products while earning a commission based purchases made as a result of one's marketing or referral.
It's a way for people to earn passive income. And by passive income, I mean that a person can earn money without having to create a product and pressuring themselves to find buyers who will purchase it.
Here's an example.
Students who enroll in my Empowered Writerpreneurs Program have an opportunity to take part in my EWP Affiliate Program. If you, for instance, went into the program, completed the course, and wanted to earn passive income, you could take advantage of this opportunity.
By you simply referring to my program through your blog, you could earn up to $700/month in passive income based on the number of students who enroll as a result of your referral.
It's that simple.
For many new bloggers, this is the easiest way to break into the money-making portion of blogging.
But every affiliate program is different, and will require something from each person. For example, no one can benefit from the EWP Affiliate Program unless he enrolls in the school, which requires an initial investment on the student's part.
Here's a simpler definition of affiliate marketing as described from Pat Flynn: "You find a product you like, promote it to others, and earn a piece of the profit for each sale that you make."
Sounds great, right?
When you read from several bloggers who say they earn six-figure income each month, the majority of them will participate in several affiliate programs, and it works wonders for them.
But how does this translate to you as a Christian Author?
Simply put: By creating your own affiliate program, you can get your books into the hands of other readers by "employing" affiliate marketers to help promote your book through their blogs.
The reason why this is so effective is because buyers are more willing to purchase products that an every-day person would be willing to buy. So, if there were five bloggers who were opened to writing blog posts about your book or to have your book promoted on their website, every reader who purchases your book from their referral will help add income to your business, and the affiliate marketer would receive a portion of the proceeds.
(In case you're wondering, EWP students who opt-in to join my affiliate marketing program will receive 50% of the proceeds for the current tuition rate up to $700/month.)

The majority of new and aspiring Christian Authors assume that because God gave them the vision to write a book, then it's up to God to put everything together. They fail to realize that the success of their ministry is based on their training.
