Greetings, Dear Writerpreneur,
I pray that you are well.
Welcome to another Empowering Post, where I will continue sharing lessons on why you ought to implement certain strategies within your authorship.
Today's post will continue to look at best marketing practices for your business. After all, this is a question that all new and aspiring Christian Authors have, and I'm sure that you are no different.
One of the greatest challenges about marketing as a Christian Author is discovering which strategies will work best for your brand, especially with social media.
Quite often, it seems as though everyone else is doing the social media thing the right way, and this type of comparison can be challenging and threatening to your progress.
I remember when I began redesigning my marketing strategy for LiyahAmore Publishing. For the most part, my only social media presence was on Facebook. But over the years, especially as this platform has increased in the number of participants, it became more and more challenging to find the right client for my works and services.
This really frustrated me, and I spent weeks agonizing over how slowly things were moving. I almost gave up on social media altogether, believe it or not.
You may be in the same position with your own works. You may be questioning whether or not it is in the best interest to use social media to promote your books, and I can assure that it is. Yes, even given my previous experience and frustrations, social media is still that place that you want to be so that you can share your content with others.
After taking a hard look at my ineffective and slow progress using social media, I realized that it wasn't the platforms' problem, but simply my misunderstanding of how to work these networks properly.
Once I examined my own shortcomings and implemented new strategies, which I teach more about in my school, then suddenly my following began to increase.
For today's article, I want to give you one important lesson regarding social media: why you need to choose the right platforms for your brand and your authorship. Not every site is perfect for you and your brand. And discovering which platforms work best for you will help you to create a powerful social media strategy.
So, let's dive into more of this teaching.
Too Many Platforms. Too Little Time. Not Too Effective.
We both know the power of social media. It completely changed the way the entire world interacted with each other.
Whereas it once began as an experiment among college students, it has now turned into the go-to place for relevant news, entertainment, and business.
Even now, we see an increase in different types of social media platforms, like Instagram, Snapchat, and others. I imagine that many others will emerge in the near future as entrepreneurs continue to search for ways to enhance our virtual experiences.
But there are already so many platforms from which to choose. How will you know which ones are best for your particular brand?
Whether you already have an account on social media or not, you need to think about how you will incorporate your brand and business onto these platforms.
You need to study how people interact on each one so that you don't make the mistake that so many new and aspiring authors make.
Each platform has its own culture of behavior. You wouldn't know this unless you analyzed each one. And if you're wondering if this is really necessary for your authorship, it is if you want to build an engaged following using social media.
For example, you don't socialize on Snapchat in the same way you would on Facebook. And you don't network on Facebook in the same way you would on LinkedIn. There's a difference in culture, and you must be aware of it.
One of the biggest mistakes that I see Christian Authors make is that they believe they have to be on every platform in order to garner the greatest crowd.
But that's false. In fact, having a presence on two or three sites is just enough.
Typically, what you will discover is that the same following that you have on one platform will be the same following on another. You're basically speaking to the same crowd but in different locations.
So, my strong advice is to not waste your time trying to be everywhere at once. You want to choose the best social media platforms for your authorship so that you bring clarity, sanity, and proper time-management to your business.
And here's why.
Bring Clarity, Focus, and Sanity to Your Virtual Marketing Strategy
Here are four reasons why choosing the right social media platform will positively impact your virtual marketing strategy.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with being choosy about your social media platforms.
There's no rule that says you must be everywhere. In fact, entrepreneurs who were once on all platforms discovered that best practices dictated that being on a few platforms was most effective for them.
So, learn from our experiences.
While you may think that you're reaching more people by being on all social media sites, you're not. You are simply reaching the same people (quite often) with the same content but in different formats.
You can establish a thriving platform by being true to yourself and by considering the behaviors of your audience members. When you combine both elements, you create a powerful experience for your business and your readers.
Now It's Your Turn to Share
Social media will never die. I'm going to go on record as having made that statement.
It will continue to improve and expand.
What you do with it as a Christian Writerpreneur, however, is entirely in your control. But if you want to use it to help build your writing ministry, then you must develop skills for working it.
So, let me know your thoughts. What are your feelings about social media? How will you use this medium to promote your authorship and brand? Which platforms do you want to use and why? Leave your answers for me in the comment section below.
Social media is simply one element of the entire writerpreneurship process; and even this can be challenging. But I want to help guide you on your journey, which you can start today by taking the next step.

Step 2: Get Trained
The majority of new and aspiring Christian Authors assume that because God gave them the vision to write a book, then it's up to God to put everything together. They fail to realize that the success of their ministry is based on their training.
There are five pillars that Christian Authors generally lack:
And without them, these writers are destined to fail.
