Greetings, Christian Author!
Welcome to today's Empowering Post, where I teach you valuable lessons that will cause your writing ministry to soar.
If you are new to my work, let me briefly introduce myself.
I'm Felecia Killings, the Founder of LiyahAmore Publishing. And I've been working with Christian Authors since 2011, helping them to build powerful, profitable, life-changing writing ministries.
My mission is to help you function in your calling full-time, because God has a unique assignment that He wants you to complete. And that assignment correlates with His passion to see His writers manifest His glory through their works.
I accomplish this mission by providing advanced training solutions that walk you from A to Z of Christian Writerpreneurship.
I don't simply want to help you write that dynamic book. I want to make sure that you have all the tools and resources that you need to thrive in this calling.
And one of the ways that I accomplish this is by constructing educational resources that address various aspects of Christian Writerpreneurship.
That's what I want to share with you in today's post.
For this lesson, I want to discuss with you why certain principles are important to your ministry's development.
When you can learn and apply the laws that will govern your success, it won't be difficult for you to walk in your calling full-time.
As you will learn throughout this post, it's not enough that you have the idea to launch your writing ministry.
You need to be strategic with your work.
And I believe that the training materials and resources that I will highlight in this article will give you just what you need to thrive this year.
More specifically, this article will address the topics of:
As you will come to learn through this article, building your writing ministry takes time, diligence, and commitment; and very few new Christian Authors are willing to pay the price that's needed to thrive.
If you truly want results with your work, then you must understand that you have to devote yourself to seeing its fulfillment.
And you must be willing to invest financially and time-wise into your ministry, because this is the starting point for your success.
So, grab your notepad and pen, and let's spend some time together discussing the "6 dynamic resources that will help you launch your writing ministry this year." I'm confident that these lessons will bless you.
Reading Time: 20 minutes of inspiration, education, and edification
Are You Wealth-Conscious?
So, let's begin this article with a discussion of wealth.
I know that there are many Christians who oppose this topic, mostly because they lack understanding regarding it.
But when it comes to building a writing ministry that will transform lives, you must first be willing to accept that God is the one who grants us the power to acquire wealth.
Money is not evil.
It's a tool that's used to help us accomplish our goals.
When Believers--true, God-fearing, Holy-Spirit-led Believers--posses great wealth, they make themselves available to be agents of change within society.
Wealth in the hands of the righteous can eliminate many of the social problems that others fail to address.
And in today's time, writers can position themselves to receive wealth when they employ their gifts for the service of mankind.
This is a lesson that I had to learn, and I share that story with you here.
I remember sitting at my parents’ dining room table one Sunday afternoon. We had just finished a wonderful meal prepared by my loving step-mother, and friends and family from the church came to partake of this fellowship as well.
While talking to one of the ladies from the church, I told her about a recent article that I had read about Stanford University. In it, they discussed that students who were accepted into the school, and whose parents made less than $100,000 a year, would receive their entire tuition free of charge. I then went on to say:
“I’m so glad I read that because now I know Aaliyah can go to Stanford for free.”
As I discussed this further with the lady, my step-mother came into the dining room and sat with us. When I mentioned to her the same topic, she looked at the lady—who is her armor-bearer, by the way—and said, “She acts as if that’s the most she will ever make.”
For a moment, that threw me off. I never realized how limited my mind had become when it came to generating wealth. I suppose that I assumed I would always live in financial straits, and that the most money I would ever make in a year would be about $60,000, and that’s with a traditional job.
In fact, at that moment, I had not even taken the business—LiyahAmore Publishing—seriously. This moment was certainly a lesson and turning point for me.
Quite often, when we are not accustomed to receiving wealth, we believe that it is not for us. In fact, very often in the Body of Christ, discussing wealth and money turns most people off.
There is this ridiculous notion that if we talk about money, or if we ever think about making more than the average person, then somehow we are greedy. We are unholy. We are out of alignment with the will of God.
I know this because I’ve witnessed prominent men and women of God go through harsh trials within the Church simply because they preached about finances, wealth, and prosperity. Even today, I see Christians harshly criticize the “faith movement,” which is characterized as teaching God’s people how to live in abundance and not lack.
What is it about wealth that makes Christians so uneasy? We certainly don’t mind if the world talks about wealth. We won’t hesitate to attend a financial conference held by a renown, ungodly leader; but when a preacher, a carrier of the Truth, discusses it, we call him shameful, greedy, evil, and wicked. We cast stones at the very ones who have been given revelation knowledge concerning this very matter.
Now, I don’t want you to think that this lesson is meant to condemn you—that is, if you’re feeling condemned for ever having these same thoughts—but to bring to light some important truths regarding wealth, which you can find in the Scriptures.
I always believe that if the Bible says that I can have something, then surely God is telling me that I can have it. And if I can believe God’s Word concerning faith, salvation, and healing, then surely I can believe Him when He says that “the wealth of the wicked is laid up for the righteous” (see Proverbs 13:22).
I preface this lesson with this information to stir your heart to see what God intends to do through you and through the works He has entrusted unto you. As writers, we have the unique talents of taking inspiration and putting it to pen.
We can translate oral messages into written ones for generations to read after us. This is a gift that not many possess, although some would think otherwise. And this is a very unique talent that we must use for God’s glory.
Generating wealth as a writer, as a Christian writer, is not only possible, but something that God wants for you because there’s a purpose for it. The Lord cannot trust a multitude of wealth to every person, but He does give a portion to each servant according to what he or she can manage.
And if you do right, if you are a good steward over what He has entrusted to you, He will multiply back to you according to what you have done with your first portion. That’s a principle, and not my opinion.
Do You Understand the Purpose of Generating Wealth as a Christian Author?
Not very many Christians do, and that's why they criticize those who have applied the principles of acquiring wealth.
To help you understand wealth's purpose in greater detail, let's explore some of these precepts.
1. Generating wealth is important because it validates God's favor on your life and your writing ministry.
When I think about this point, I am reminded of Abraham. People around him knew that he had obtained favor with God because of what they saw he possessed. While many people today assume that God is for them because of the cars they have or the large homes in which they live, that does not always signify God’s blessing. And at other times it does.
But in the case of Abraham and his descendants, the blessing of the Lord was revealed, not simply through his material possessions but also by his moral character. Abraham was a good man and a great master, who had at least 300 servants living in his quarters. He was a great provider, and wherever he went, he prospered.
This was a sign to those in the land that did not know the true God. Above that, Abraham was a giver. He gave ten percent of his increase, even before the tithe was made a requirement by the law. Wealthy people—God-fearing ones—are signs and wonders to others. When someone sees that you fare well in this life, they are bound to ask you how you achieved it. And your response must be, “It is God who gave me this power to get wealth.
2. Generating wealth is important because it demonstrates God’s covenant with us, which He established with our spiritual ancestors.
We read about this very promise in Deuteronomy 8:18.
Moses had taught the people that it was important for them to remember the Lord, who was the One that delivered them and gave them wealth. After all, wasn’t that what He promised to them when they reached the Promise Land—a land flowing with milk and honey?
God always had a desire to be in covenant relationship with His people, and because of that relationship, He had obligated Himself—by His own swearing—to give them more than enough.
Even in the instance of the children of Israel, God commanded the women to borrow all the gold and jewels from the Egyptians before their great exodus; and by the time they crossed the Red Sea, that massive debt was cancelled instantly.
The Lord had a desire for His people to build a tabernacle where He could come and fellowship with them, but it had to be according to His plan, and it would require resources to see it realized. And because the people had the wealth, they could fulfill what God wanted.
3. Generating wealth is important because it allows us to complete the work of the Lord that He has given to us individually.
I remember a few months ago when I had decided to develop the plans for creating a home for single mothers. Naturally, my first reaction was to solicit supporters who would generously donate $35 each just to get the program started. It seemed like such a small request; but only three people actually contributed.
I thought, This is ridiculous, Lord. Will you send money my way so that I can build this work that you gave me?
And as if the Holy Spirit wanted to teach me yet another lesson, His reply was, “You pay for it.”
In other words, "Stop waiting around for others to hand you money so you can do the work. You pay for it with the money that comes to you."
That was revelation to me. At that moment, I thought about how much more work I could accomplish if I had $1 million in my account. I wouldn’t need to ask anyone for money to start a non-profit or to give towards feeding the homeless.
If I wanted to build a school or rent space for the women’s bible study that I lead, I could do it without worrying about whether or not people will give towards the work. What if you could position yourself to where the books and services that you provide generate enough wealth to do what God called you to do?
Then you could do it without hindrance or reservation. This completely altered the way I thought about helping to build the Kingdom of God. In like manner, if you know that you have something else to do besides being a writer, then the wealth that you generate from this work can go directly towards fulfilling that vision.
You won’t need to ask others for a grant or a loan. You pay for it, even as the Holy Spirit said to me so bluntly.
4. Generating wealth is important because it empowers us to be givers.
It’s a fact: Wealthy people give more.
Whether for tax purposes or because they just enjoy helping others, wealthy people give more because they can, and they don’t miss what they give.
When you become wealthy, it’s not hard for you to bless that single mother who can barely pay her rent.
It’s not hard for you to give $20 to the person on the street. It’s not a challenge to give $25,000 towards a new project that your Pastor wants to do for the ministry and the community. Wealthy people give more, and because of that, they receive more.
It’s a principle and a spiritual law that can’t be broken.
Wealth and the Believer: Powerful Principles That Teach God's Writers the Importance of Generating Wealth
This topic of wealth is so important to your ministry as a new Christian Author, because you can only expect to receive what your mind has been conditioned to obtain.
If you want to be a full-time Christian Author, then you need to make yourself ready to receive this wealth.
And I share more about this topic in my resource, Wealth and the Believer.
This 54-page e-book provides multiple lessons that help you understand biblical principles regarding wealth.
I teach you that as a Christian writer, you have an obligation to be a good steward over the talent that God has given you.
You can't bury it.
You can't hide it.
You must use it to bring forth profits so that God's Kingdom can expand in the earth.
I encourage you to make this book a part of your educational library. And if you purchase this book today, I will also add more resources to your order via the EWP Book Bundle, which I will share more about later.
Your Success Depends on Your Vision and Mission
So, now that you have learned about the importance of generating wealth through your ministry, it's time to start addressing the other intangible matters of your work.
Every great ministry begins with an idea.
And when that idea is fostered, it becomes a burning desire, which can only be quenched once it has manifested in the natural.
When it comes to building your writing ministry, you need to focus on what your vision and mission are.
In other words, ask yourself what you see regarding the image that God has given you? How would you characterize it? And in what ways is your writing ministry helping to expand God's Kingdom in the earth?
To better understand these concepts, let's dive into this topic in more details.
The Vision Statement
The following definition derives from businessdictionary.com.
According to the website, a vision statement is “an aspirational description of what an organization would like to achieve or accomplish in the mid-term or long-term future.
It is intended to serve as a clear guide for choosing current and future courses of action.”
Another definition of the term is as follows: “A vision statement for a company or organization focuses on the potential inherent in the company’s future, or what they intend to be…the vision statement is simply a description of what the company intends to be.”
Just from reading these definitions, it is clear why having this statement is so important to the foundation of your writing ministry. You must possess a clear idea of what you want your company to look like in the future because this will pave the way for your success.
The Mission Statement
A basic definition of a mission statement can be found at businessdictionary.com.
It is “a written declaration of an organization’s core purpose and focus that normally remains unchanged over time.”
It can “serve as a filter to separate what is important from what is not, clearly state which markets will be served and how, and communicate a sense of intended direction to the entire organization.”
To discern between the vision and the mission statement, think of one as the cause and the other as the effect.
In other words, “a mission is something to be accomplished whereas a vision is something to be pursued for that accomplishment.”
In order to prepare your ministry for life-long success, you need to have a clear roadmap. You need to know where you're going and how you will get there.
That's what identifying your vision and mission statements will do for you.
And once you have clarified this message, you now position yourself to receive the plans that you need to succeed.
Your Success Depends on You Ability to Create a Plan of Action
The next step in the process is to develop definite plans that will help you reach your goals.
One of the lessons that I teach my students in the Empowered Writerpreneurs Program is that before they move towards creating their business plan, they should conduct research to inform their ideas.
And here's what I mean.
You will no doubt run into entrepreneurs who will tell you that you need to write down your ideas. They will instruct you to make plans so that you see your dreams realized.
What they won't tell you is that before you can make any plans, you need to be informed about best practices. (Think of this as you collaborating with a mastermind group in a digital way.) In other words, what's the point of making plans if you don't know if your plans will succeed?
There is a way to avoid wasting your time on the planning process, and that's by performing the necessary research so that you discover the ideas and plans that have worked for others.
Here's just one example.
Let's say that you decide to add video marketing to your business plan. How do you know that this type of marketing will actually yield the results that YOU need? How do you know if this method will actually work for YOUR writing ministry?
The way you can answer these questions is by conducting research to discover how other authors added video marketing to their plan. You can learn from their experiences, and then apply their plans to your own.
Imagine the kind of time you would save in doing this.
For this reason, research plays a pivotal role in shaping your future plans. And as you already know, your plans are the tools that will get you towards walking in your calling full-time.
Business Planning for the Christian Author
Creating actionable plans for your writing ministry is a requirement, not an option.
No matter how big your vision is or how anointed you think you are, your ministry will fail if you fail to make accurate plans.
And this is what I teach in my second resource, Business Planning for the Christian Author.
I created this resource to be a simplified version of what goes into making a dynamic business plan.
I teach you about creating your vision and mission statements; I teach you about identifying your ideal reader; I teach you about developing your system of operations so that you grow over time.
My resource also comes with a colorful business plan template that you can use to organize your ideas.
As with the previous resource, this e-book is one that must be in your educational library. It's a wonderful product that will help you make sense of all that goes into building a writing ministry that will last a lifetime.
This is the second resource that I provide to you when you purchase the EWP Book Bundle.
If You Want a Thriving Writing Ministry, Then You MUST Know Your Audience
One of the easiest ways to launch your writing ministry this year is by knowing to whom God has called you.
When it comes to building your writing ministry, everything comes down to defining your target audience. More specifically, it comes down to knowing who your ideal reader is.
Remember when I wrote that having a clear message is important to your work?
The same can be said for clearly defining the types of readers that you want to be a part of your great work.
And the more specific you are in your descriptions, the easier it is for you to sell your books, services, and other products to your ideal audience.
Here's how I implement this strategy:
Notice that I don't simply write blog posts or books for any writer.
I specifically target Christian Authors.
And not just any kind of Christian Author.
Christian Authors who want to build a lasting writing ministry.
Knowing who I am called to minister to helps me to construct the PERFECT content. And it helps me to make powerful connections with readers and influencers.
The same strategy must be applied to your own writing ministry.
So, here are a series of questions that you want to ask yourself to help you identify this person.
You will find that these questions will really help you master the art of running your writing ministry EFFECTIVELY.
You must become so acclimated with your ideal readers/buyers that they feel like they have known you for years.
You need to be able to tell their story in such a way that they "get you" and why you have a desire to help them.
How to Take Your Future Marketing Efforts to Another Level
Think for a moment about how identifying your ideal reader can help you with your marketing efforts.
If you know to whom you have been called, then you know how to reach them because they are destined to be a part of your ministry.
This is one of the key factors in building a dynamic marketing plan, and as you know, marketing is pivotal to your success in business and ministry.
One of the greatest challenges among new Christian Authors is how to market their books, services, and products effectively.
It's a challenge that every creator encounters, but there are methods that you can use that will help you get your books and products to your ideal reader.
Far too often, new Christian Authors employ useless marketing tactics, such as sharing pictures of their book covers in Facebook Authors' Group.
Or they will share pictures of their book covers to random people on their newsfeed, expecting each of their followers to "support" their work by purchasing their book.
This, too, is useless and ineffective.
When it comes to marketing your products and writing ministry effectively, you need to learn how to position your work before the RIGHT audience.
So, if God told you to write a book for single mothers, then it makes no sense for you to market your book to a group of fathers.
Generally speaking, that audience simply won't care about your product.
You need to find where the single mothers congregate, and then you need to build relationships with them.
Once those relationships have been established, then you can share your books with them.
The same strategy can be applied to any niche that you address within your writing ministry.
And one of the best ways to cultivate these relationships, especially within the online space, is by employing content marketing methods.
It's at this point where your ideal readers come to see you as their influencer, their friend, and their go-to person for all things related to your topic.
Your Content Marketing Efforts Will Make You an Expert to Your Readers
In the online space, there are two elements that cause certain writerpreneurs to stand out: authority and credibility.
The world has come to use the Internet as a powerful method for acquiring accurate information and research. Writers and authors--essentially anyone who publishes content online--discover that because of their contributions, the world views them as experts on a given topic.
Consider my work with LiyahAmore Publishing. The more I add content to my Author Platform about Christian Writerpreneurship, and the more people come to learn about this term, the more my readers find that my name and my ministry stand at #1 on this matter.
In other words, my audience comes to view me as an expert on Christian Writerpreneurship.
The key term is EXPERT. And that's essentially what you want to be to your ideal audience.
Having some type of authority and credibility online will draw more readers to you and your works. This is a major part of marketing. And over time, as you build your audience, you will learn to create books and products that your readers DEMAND from you.
Content Marketing: A Guide for Christian Authors and Writerpreneurs
Now, if you're unfamiliar with the concept of content marketing, that's OK.
It's simply a technical term used to describe how entrepreneurs create content (articles, books, videos, webinars, etc.) that will be used to promote a business, service, or product.
And as a new Christian Author, if you want your writing ministry to live throughout the years, then you must learn how to employ content marketing into your work today.
This is what I share with my readers and students in my third resource, Content Marketing: A Guide for Christian Authors and Writerpreneurs.
In this empowering e-book, I help you understand why content marketing is your secret weapon for accomplishing more than the average Christian Author.
New Christian writers who simply focus on writing books and nothing more just won't make it in today's online market.
Because consumers are driven to purchase products and services when they see that entrepreneurs--and in our case, writerpreneurs--demonstrate our work's value to the buyer BEFORE asking for a sale.
Consider how I am currently using content marketing to promote the EWP Book Bundle.
I am using my blog, which is the most powerful content marketing tool for writerpreneurs, to teach you about different elements of writerpreneurship.
And I seamlessly embed my products within this long-form blog post without pressuring you to buy the Bundle.
That's the purpose of content marketing; and when employed strategically, it will make your promotional endeavors fun and profitable EVERY TIME!
This third resource is surely what you need to bring clarity and insight regarding best marketing practices for Christian Authors. And it will come with your purchase of the previous two resources when you order your EWP Book Bundle.
How You Can Persuade Your Readers to Purchase Your Books
In the previous section, I shared how I use my blog to help me promote my products and services.
And my method for doing this is by providing teaching and training lessons that will give you actionable steps for launching your writing ministry.
In essence, what I am doing is preparing your heart and mind to receive my offerings.
Yet, for new Christian Authors, when it comes to marketing their books and other products, they tend to make this not-so-obvious mistake.
They wait until their product is completely finished before promoting it.
And then they fail to properly prepare their audience to purchase their products.
The results usually leave new writers feeling defeated and frustrated.
And quite often, this pressures them to quit their work.
But there are more effective ways to get your products in the hands of your readers, and that's what I want to address with this lesson.
I want to bring you into the world of blogging as a Christian Writerpreneur.
Blogging is such a powerful content marketing tool; and when employed effectively, it can help you sell all your products for the lifetime of your writing ministry.
Blogging goes beyond you sharing random articles about your life.
Effective blogging is about giving your readers what they need so that they come to trust you and eventually purchase from you.
If you can master this skill RIGHT NOW, you will quickly discover that your audience members will fall in love with your content, and will gladly purchase your products (no matter the cost) because you have demonstrated your expertise and wisdom with them.
And there are a number of statistics that support my statements.
Research has proven that consumers are more trusting of brands and businesses that have a blog on their website.
They are more willing to make purchases when brands have demonstrated just how helpful and valuable their products are to the market.
As a Christian Writerpreneur, you are no different.
You are a brand.
And while you will be ministering to the people whom God has chosen for you, you must still learn how to position yourself and your products to this audience.
Blogging strategically makes this happen.
And this is why hundreds of bloggers today are generating massive income through their works, because they have learned how to win online friends and gain influence by demonstrating their expertise through a blog.
The EWP Manual for the Christian Blogger
Blogging plays such a pivotal role in building your writing ministry that I've constructed a separate e-book to help you better understand its workings.
In my fourth resource, The EWP Manual for the Christian Blogger, I teach you how you can tap into the multi-trillion dollar Christian market using your most powerful marketing tool, your blog.
If you want to learn how to generate a growing audience, full of loyal readers and buyers, then you need to start blogging with purpose.
And that's what this resource will teach you.
Not only will you learn about the science behind blogging, but I will give you strategies on how to construct effective blog posts that align with your ministry's vision and mission.
I will show you how you can incorporate your paid products and services into your posts so that you avoid spamming your readers with "Buy me NOW" tactics, and more of relationship-building techniques that persuade readers to purchase whatever you sell.
Blogging has completely changed the scope of my writing ministry.
It has helped me earn thousands of dollars during my first year of taking my writing ministry seriously.
And blogging has helped me position my work to generate its first million dollars in 2019. This is the money that I needed to help me launch my women's ministry and home program for single mothers.
Blogging has been the powerful tool that I needed to help me expand God's Kingdom in the earth; and I want to share these lessons with you.
This fourth resources also comes with your purchase of the EWP Book Bundle, and is a must-have if you intend to have a writing ministry that is profitable and life-changing.
