HURT. A four-letter word that can really do a lot of damage. When people feel hurt, it can control them physically, mentally, and spiritually. We all hurt in different ways. For example, someone could've said something to you that hurt your feelings. You could’ve felt the hurt of a lost loved one. You could’ve felt the hurt that you didn't get the job you wanted. You could’ve felt the hurt that someone you deeply loved did not appreciate you the way you deserved.
Being hurt means that we’re human. We have emotions and feelings. It’s a normal feeling that someone gets when she feels emotionally attacked. I think if we identify why we hurt, we can begin the process of healing.
Lord knows I’ve been hurt numerous times from losing loved ones, from heartbreaks, and from feeling defeated. But at the end of the day, we all know it’s not healthy to remain hurt over something. That four-letter word needs to turn into another four-letter word: love. Let the word “love” take control and overpower all hurt.
When you lose someone, it’s okay to be sad because you loved them. They will always have a personal place in your heart. But in order to move on in life and be happy, you have to let go of the hurt. For those who ended a rocky relationship, tell yourself that while you may still love that person with all your heart, you can no longer allow the hurt of the relationship to take power over you or over your life. All you can do is pray for that person.
Whenever we are hurt, we have to pray to God to help us start over. We should be able to say, “Even though we didn’t make it, I wish you the very best in your life.” Everyone deserves to be happy and to have the right person to be in love with.
It’s ok to hurt. It is a natural feeling. But one thing we must not do is to stay hurt for a long period of time. It’s not healthy. The best way I learned to deal with hurt is to say to myself, “This is temporary; this feeling shall pass.” I have to focus on why am I hurting, and I have to learn to do things differently than before.
We have to continue to pray. We have to be a prayer warrior! It’s so easy for the devil to sneak in and have his way when we’re hurting. That's when we feel off guard and feel defeated the most. And trust me, he’s right there lingering around, trying to find ways to destroy you! But there is power in prayer. It’s up to us to lift ourselves up and to pray, no matter how hurt we feel on the inside.
