Bless the Lord, Christian Author!
Welcome to another Empowering Post.
I am Felecia Killings, Founder of LiyahAmore Publishing. And my mission is to help you cultivate a writing ministry that will bless the nations.
Each week, I present my students and audience members with various tips and lessons that will help them turn their ideas of writing and book publishing into a reality.
And for this week, I am sharing powerful lessons that I have learned on how to be most productive as a Christian Writerpreneur.
For today's teaching, I want to discuss the #1 productivity killer among new Christian Authors.
In recent articles and videos, I taught about the importance of becoming more productive with your time and energy.
And I also shared that when you are in a positive mental state, and you use your mental power for good, then you will inevitably see great success in your work.
But what happens to Christian Authors when suddenly what they hoped for seems to not come to pass?
This is what I want to discuss in this teaching, because quite often, when hope is deferred, doubt sets in.
And unbelief is the #1 killer of your productivity.
So, let's spend some time on this issue. And by the end of this post, I hope that you will be encouraged to keep pressing forward in this journey, no matter what.
The Journey of Christian Writerpreneurship Is Long and Difficult
I remember back in 2015, I had become increasingly discouraged with my business.
I had very few clients, and I struggled to see how I could make this ministry flourish.
But once I started diving into the right training and learning best practices for growing an online ministry, that's when things began to change.
Success for me didn't come rapidly.
In other words, it didn't happen overnight.
It was a long journey, and one that I still travel. And from it, I learned that becoming a thriving Christian Writerpreneur required life-long commitment and dedication.
Over the years, I've come across new Christian Authors who have a burning desire to see their books sold worldwide.
They want the fame and glory that comes with the job.
But what they fail to realize is that nothing good comes without a price.
They don't always understand that even though God gave them the idea about their ministry, this road as a Christian Writerpreneur is long and hard.
There are so many layers involved in the process.
You have to start with your ideas...
You have to learn best business practices...
You have to receive the right coaching and training...
You have to master the art of marketing and promotion within the online sphere...
And you have to learn how to scale your ministry so that it reaches the masses.
There is so much more to building a writing ministry; and when new Christian Authors refuse to play by the rules of the game, they lose.
Then they wonder why the Lord didn't do something more for them.
They question their calling and purpose.
And they abandon their mission, which has lasting ramifications.
This is why I've taken great care to break down the pathway of success for new Christian Authors through my online school.
I recognized that within my own ministry, I desired something that would give me the roadmap that I needed to succeed.
And I'm so glad that I did this, because now other authors like my students and clients have the tools they need to build a writing ministry that is becoming their new careers.
If there's one thing that you must learn, Dear Writerpreneur, it is this: The journey as a new Christian Author will be fun and exciting, but it won't always feel like this.
You will hit tough times.
You will experience temporary defeats.
You will run into some difficulties.
But it's what you do with those hardships that truly determine if you're fit to continue in this great work.
Hope Deferred Can Make Your Heart (and Dreams) Sick
Now, as you read this article, I don't want you to become bothered by the content.
That's not my mission.
Instead, I want you to understand the truth of the matter.
I want you to realize that while hardships will arise, you can employ certain strategies that will keep you motivated and productive within your work.
You see, if you allow your mind to focus on the things that are going wrong in your ministry, it will sap you of hope.
You will start to feel like the mission isn't worth it anymore.
And where deferred hope resides, a sick heart emerges.
It's easy to see why this can destroy any productivity.
If you start feeling like your efforts aren't producing good fruit within your ministry, that makes it easier to quit.
But I don't want you to do that.
Instead, I want you to focus on what is producing good fruit, and maximize on it until you have completely killed doubt.
Doubt Will Kill Your Productivity...So, Kill It Instead
Doubt is the enemy of any Believer.
Doubt will cause you to lose your hope and inheritance.
Doubt opens the door to fear.
And where there is fear, there is no faith or firm confidence in God's ability and might.
Doubt isn't something to toy with.
And when you entertain this negative emotion, your writing ministry and online work suffer greatly.
There have been many times when I doubted the validity of my vision for my writing ministry.
So many times I have questioned whether or not this was truly the will of God for me.
And when I allowed those negative thoughts to infiltrate my mind, I found myself giving my time and energy to other things that had nothing to do with my life's purpose.
That's how the enemy called doubt works.
It makes you believe that what you've been called to do is not true.
It convinces you that your time would best be served doing something else.
It tells you that you can't truly make it, because no one really knows you...
Or it says to you that no one will truly trust you because so many people have spoken evil about you...(at least, that's what doubt says to me).
And what tends to happen is when we listen to doubt, we cease in giving our time and resources to our God-given mission.
And when this happens, our ministry fails...not because doubt was correct, but because we stopped investing in the work.
No one can expect to receive a harvest without sowing.
And when we cease to sow into our writing ministries--simply because doubt told us to--then our works suffer the consequences.
This is why I argue that doubt and unbelief are the #1 killers of productivity.
They discourage us from seeing the goal and the prize.
They trample over our hopes and dreams.
And there's only one way to deal with them: Kill them!
Kill doubt with faith.
Kill doubt with confidence and hope.
Your faith in God and yourself is the key to seeing breakthrough in your writing ministry.
The more you envision God's plan and purpose for your life, and the more you speak it into existence, then the sooner it will manifest in the natural.
I wouldn't have my online school for authors had it not been for the faith that I had in what God revealed to me.
And each year, I stretch my faith to believe for even greater things, because I am confident in the word that the Lord gave to me.
Faith is powerful enough to drown out the naysayers.
It makes their hateful comments and rumors null and void.
Faith strips every negative talk of its power to destroy my writing ministry.
And faith alone will do the same thing for you.
I want to encourage you, Fellow Writerpreneur, to hold fast to the vision that God gave to you concerning your writing ministry.
Your calling is just as important to the Lord as the many others.
You have a message to deliver to a select group, and God expects you to carry that mission to the end.
Don't let doubt, worry, or anxiety strip you of your calling and purpose.
Don't give it the right to do so.
No matter what struggles arise during this process, continue to hope in God, and put forth the necessary work that will make your ministry a success.
Dear Writerpreneur, I pray that this article blessed you.
I hope that it gave you the encouragement that you need to continue moving forward in this process.
Although it can be long and difficult, the journey is worth it.
The rewards are great, and you will experience them in earth and in eternity.
