Greetings, Dear Writerpreneur,
I pray that you are well.
Welcome to another Empowering Post, which I know will bless you and impact your Christian authorship.
I wanted to take some time to discuss with you a very important message, one dealing with patience and perseverance as a writerpreneur.
These characteristics are not always easy to practice, although the Bible gives great credence to those who know how to employ them.
Given the nature of the self-publishing industry and Christian writing, it is especially important for you to focus on exercising these traits, because in doing so, you help establish long-term success.
In today's post, I teach you why it is more advantageous to work towards building a life-long career as a Christian Author. But this will require something of you that many writers refuse to exercise: patience and endurance. Rather than striving for what many call “overnight success,” I want you to seek long-term results. And here's one reason why.
"Overnight success" is a myth. It's a figment of one's imagination. In fact, those who place thriving Christian Authors in the category of “overnight successes” suggest that luck or chance had a part in helping them reach their goals. This couldn't be further from the truth.
Those of us who have achieved great results and have managed to maintain our success over a period of years do so because we have developed stamina and self-discipline with our writerpreneurship. We've gone through intense training. We've sacrificed immediate pleasures for long-term results. We've done what most are unwilling to do as a self-publishing author.
We haven't "made it" (past tense). We ARE making it (present tense).
In other words, we who are experiencing profound results do so because we continuously improve upon our works, our achievements, and our brand. For us, success is not necessarily a destination, but rather a lifestyle that is developed from the moment we decided to change our circumstances.
We all want to be successful. We all want the opportunity to see our visions and dreams realized. And many of us are OK with spending about 6-12 months working towards our dreams, that is until impatience begins to surface.
This nature is often triggered by comparing ourselves to others and their writing ministry. Maybe you have done the same thing by assessing your progress with another writerpreneur's progress.
We see authors everywhere on social media, sharing their stories about how they made the Best-seller’s List, and how “you can, too” when you follow their steps. And it’s all grand and lovely.
But quite often, what you don’t hear are the years that came before their “success.” You don’t hear about the 80-hour-work weeks or the missed family events; you don’t hear about the details of their sacrifices.
You simply see the fruits of their labor. You see the dream, but never the toil.
What you see are people who have committed to long-term success.
Society's Obsession with "Overnight Success"
A while ago, I came across a Facebook ad that basically bragged about how one woman was able to help her clients earn over $30 million in one year.
Her copy read something to the effect of "Learn how you can achieve success without the sacrifice."
I was immediately turned off from it, and proceeded to move forward in my newsfeed. The reason this bothered me was because it gave a very false impression of success. In other words, she lied, and there's nothing worse than a lying entrepreneur.
In truth, she presented this idea that you can achieve all your goals and all your dreams without sacrifice. Or, to put it simply, you can become an "overnight success" without any hard work.
A. BALD-FACED. LIE.
Nothing worth having comes easily. You have to work for it, even when you cannot see immediate results.
You must be willing to pay the price for what it takes to see your dreams realized, even as a Christian Author. If you are not willing to do this, then you should never expect to receive any fruit from your labor, because you have hardly put in the work.
This is what I want to stress to every Christian Author who connects with me and my brand, and something that I instill strongly with my students.
I want to encourage and challenge you to know that unless you do what is required of you, you will never achieve the greatness that you envision for your writing ministry.
You Must Pay the Price
Proverbs 13:11 teaches us that “wealth gained hastily will dwindle, but whoever gathers little by little will increase.”
While the focus of this blog post is not to discuss money—although this is often tied to success—even the principle of the Scripture should be noted.
Anything that you do hastily has the potential to fleet. If you gain wealth quickly, you will spend it quickly. If you jump into a relationship hastily, it will crumble before you know it. There is something that must take place within us that will enable us to maintain the success that we hope to see and experience.
This “something” is called practicing patience, endurance, and self-discipline, all of which require that you pay a price.
You don’t learn to operate in patience until you have gone through something that requires you to wait. But even during that waiting period, you are actively working on what needs to be done before you reach your destination.
For example, one of the financial goals that I have for my company is that it will be a multi-million-dollar business, able to employ other writerpreneurs. I see the vision. I have the goals. But it won’t happen tomorrow. In fact, I don’t anticipate seeing these results for another ten years.
That’s not doubt, which many people tend to think, but rather a sense of reality given what I have at the moment.
While many Christian preachers will say, “Speak it and declare it NOW,” in truth, I haven’t paid the price it takes in order to obtain such a blessing. I must wait for it, and while waiting, I do what I can in order to learn how to reach that goal.
This builds patience and endurance in me, and it equips me and my business to withstand hard times. I understand that the little that I gather at a time, the more I will have years from now.
You, dear writerpreneur, must be of the same heart and mind.
Your Success WILL NOT Happen Overnight
Here's the message that you must take from today's article: Your success as a Christian Writerpreneur will not happen overnight. And you don't want that to happen, either.
Remember: Anything gained hastily will fleet or fly away. But you want your writing ministry to remain. You want to create a brand that is consistent for your readers and resistant to hardships.
In another article, I discussed how consumers behave with thriving brands; and one of the most attractive features that consumers hold dear is a business's consistency.
You don't achieve that level of respect overnight.
It comes with time, patience, and endurance.
And if you want your writing ministry to thrive five or ten years from now, you must prepare for it today! Everything you do now--whether it's reading empowering material, connecting with influencers like myself, and engaging in the intense training you need--everything is to make way for your future's success.
As you think about what you envision for your writing ministry, whatever it may look like, begin to plan for long-term results and not simply what you can get today.
Don’t be consumed with trying to find quick answers to solve your challenges. Don’t be led astray by those who promise to give you fast results when really they have not achieved them themselves.
Rather, be concerned with how the Word of God teaches us to acquire success: with patience and endurance.
We must be willing to put our hand to the plow, and perform the necessary work that comes with reaching our goals.
Are you willing, because I know you're able?
Now It's Your Turn to Share

Although you may find it difficult to appreciate the time it takes to create the thriving writing ministry that you see others experience, that's OK. Recognizing this challenge is important.
However, it's what you do with those feelings that determine your character. Will you let those feelings cause you to become jealous, or will you let those emotions stir you to do something positive for your authorship?
Your future, dear writerpreneur, is dictated, not by chance, but by the decisions you make today. So, why not begin your journey towards developing a thriving writing ministry right now?
I'll show you how you can start today.
