Greetings, Dear Writerpreneur,
I pray that you are well.
Welcome to another Empowering Post, where I will teach you strategies to improve your Christian Authorship.
Today's article will address an important topic that not many Christian Writerpreneurs understand: the importance of balancing their lives.
I know this because I failed to do the same.
Starting an online writing business is incredible challenging, and requires a time commitment that can often seem overwhelming. But this doesn't mean that it should take over your life.
When I first began my company in 2011, I wanted something that would enable me to earn money while being a stay-at-home mother. For me to allow the business to completely consume my time with my daughter would have been a huge mistake.
This is an area that I struggled with for a while.
When I worked as an English instructor, I did not understand the value of having perfect harmony between my work and personal life. I was so focused on my career that I neglected to address my personal needs, and that left me feeling depleted and broken.
It also opened me to a great deal of emotional instability, and that led to other devastating factors.
But once I began to run my company full-time, mostly because I couldn’t nail another career in the traditional work place, I realized that in order for me to truly enjoy life, I would have to find that perfect balance again.
It took a lot of time, but I eventually found what I needed to do on my end in order to see this balance realized. I’m still working on one area, particularly the romantic part of my life, but I know that everything will eventually come into place because it’s something that is vital to my success as a woman, a mother, a business person, and a daughter of the King.
Here's the main message that I want you to take from this post: Balance. Is. Key.
If you are looking to become a full-time writer, then it’s important to get your heart and mind ready for what’s ahead. More importantly, you have to make time for other matters of life.
So, let's get into this teaching.
Everything Begins with a Choice
We choose to create a life based on our needs and desires, and it is up to us to ensure that every decision we make does not cause harm to the other areas of our lives.
As an entrepreneur/business owner, you have the choice to determine how large or small your company will be. And this choice will profoundly affect your personal life.
For many people who do the traditional 9-5 job, the professional life includes rising early in the morning, beating the morning traffic, and committing 40 hours each week to help build another person’s business.
Once the job is completed for the day, people return to their homes to spend whatever time possible with their families. The same routine occurs day-in and day-out.
For a writerpreneur, this is not the case so much.
On one hand, we have the freedom and liberty to conduct work as we see fit. For those of us who are morning people, rising up before the sun dawns is the perfect time to get work accomplished. I know this is what I do, waking up at 5:30am to complete as much writing as I can before my daughter wakes at 9:30am.
For those who prefer to sleep in, perhaps working in the afternoons and into the late night best suits them.
In any case, we can determine what hours of the day we will commit to perform any necessary duties for our company and our authorship. However, what you will find as a beginning entrepreneur/business owner is that more hours of your day will be spent on something that may not generate a guaranteed income. There's a huge risk factor involved in writerpreneurship.
In fact, you will find that the less time you spend on perfecting your business and its products and services, you are least likely to create a future as a full-time writer, doing what you want to do.
For example, over the course of 9 months, I labored intensively on the revamp of my publishing company. It was more than simply adding new photos and changing the layout of my website.
I spent months, not days, researching best practices for my particular business. I spent months in prayer, asking the Holy Spirit for assistance and guidance. I spent months in virtual training conferences, where I learned so many different ways to generate an income with my authorship and my brand.
And after accomplishing all that training and only make enough money to take care of our necessities, I then began the process of redeveloping and sharpening my brand.
Even after doing that, I had to spend months creating and marketing my Empowered Writerpreneurs Program™ and Empowered Writerpreneurs Network™, which again did not guarantee me an income. But I believed in what I was doing, and I committed long hours to it all because I could see the future of my company, and it was bright!
For a long while, I found myself working 10-15 hours a day, every day on my company. And while that period of complete dedication is paying off, I knew that maintaining other aspects of my life was equally important.
The Personal and Spiritual Life
Unlike the professional life, your personal life consists of doing things that you do not feel pressured to do in order to make a living. This includes spending time with family and friends, and engaging in activities that bring comfort and relief.
I have read several articles about bloggers who avoid their personal life because they are so engulfed in their writing entrepreneurship, as if this is something to boast. To the contrary, having a personal life is quintessential to the overall success of your company; and without it, you will greatly suffer.
As a mother, I make it a priority to spend time with my daughter on a daily basis. And because I have completed the majority of my business's ground work, I now have time on the weekends to spend exclusively with her.
Family is important to me. In fact, for me, having a healthy family relationship comes second to my relationship with the Holy Spirit. I'm learning to cultivate this mindset now so that when I do remarry and have more children, my family will see that my first ministry is to ones I loved mostly.
This article would be incomplete without discussing the importance of feeding your spirit.
The Bible tells us that the spirit of a man will sustain him in sickness, but who can deal with a broken spirit (Proverbs 18:14)? It’s quite easy to get caught up in the busyness of family and career, but we cannot neglect the most important of them all, which is the spirit.
We can feed and strengthen our spirit through daily, not weekly, devotion with the Holy Spirit.
We can strengthen ourselves through the reading of His Word.
We really can’t afford to ignore the seriousness of this part of our lives, because if we do, we will have a broken spirit. This is the reason why so many people are hurting and distraught: Their spirits are broken.
And no matter how successful they are in terms of earthly riches, their spirit is bankrupt. You don’t want to be this way.
This is why I enjoy focusing my business on Christian Authors, because while I continue to teach about wealth opportunities for writers, I can also encourage my audience with the Word of God.
Not only will His Word encourage you, but it will also encourage me! So, be sure to take time for this part of your life. It’s not selfish of you to spend time in prayer, talking about your needs and desires. This is your private time with Him, and not anyone’s business.
Practice Balancing Your Life
One of the benefits of being a Christian Writerpreneur is that time is in your control. Take full advantage of that.
Make the most of what this career has for you, because then you will experience what it means to enjoy life.
Even if you still work for a traditional job and only commit part-time to your authorship, you can still find balance for your life.

Before I conclude today's post, I want to encourage you today to begin this wonderful adventure as a Christian Writerpreneur.
There are tens of thousands of Christian Authors like you who have the passion and desire to thrive in this self-publishing industry; but only a few actually make their mark.
It's not because of chance or luck that these few have acquired success. It's because of the training and skills they developed over the years. This is what I have also discovered with my own writing ministry, and why I have created a powerful learning experience for new and aspiring Christian Authors.
If you want to take the journey that so many travel but few accomplish, then I encourage you to take the next steps in this process. And here's how.

Step 2: Get Trained
The majority of new and aspiring Christian Authors assume that because God gave them the vision to write a book, then it's up to God to put everything together. They fail to realize that the success of their ministry is based on their training.
There are five pillars that Christian Authors generally lack:
And without them, these writers are destined to fail.
