You're better off exiting this post right now, and going in the same direction as the rest of the new Christian Authors, who, unfortunately, aren't making much strides in their writing ministry.

As you may have deduced from my headline, this article will teach you about marketing with Pinterest, and why you MUST use this tool for your writing ministry. Using this method effectively for your business is more complex than you realize, but today's Empowering Post will give you the steps you need to get set up on this platform. Pinterest will help you generate more traffic to your website, more subscribers to your mailing list, and more revenue for your writing ministry. So, let's get straight to today's teaching.

Your Current Marketing Methods Need a Revolution
One of the primary challenges for new Christian Authors is learning how to market their ministries and their books successfully.
Just recently, I read a story from the book, Rich Dad, Poor Dad. In it, the author, Robert Kiyosaki, shared how he came across a woman, who was an excellent writer. Her dream was to become a best-selling author; but there was just one problem.
She didn't know how to sell anything.
Kiyosaki then suggested to her that she take a course in marketing if she wanted to reach that goal. But she didn't like that advice. In fact, she was offended by it, because she felt like her skills as a writer should be enough to help her become a best-selling author.
Kiyosaki went on to share with her that his book became a best-seller, and yet he was a terrible writer (his words, not mine). The key wasn't in how well she could write--she obviously mastered that--but in her ability to sell her future book to the right people.
And that's what I want to stress to you, Dear Writerpreneur. No matter how wonderful your book is, you will never achieve widespread status until you learn the art of marketing your brand and your writing ministry EFFECTIVELY. While you don't need a "best-selling" title in order to be successful, understand that "best-selling" implies that you know how to sell.
But what does marketing actually look like for Christian Authors? If you're like the majority of new writers, you have no idea what the answer to this question is. You may think that marketing is simply you taking a picture of your book cover, and throwing it into a Facebook Authors' Group. (I address that topic here.)
Or maybe marketing means you attend a book fair in your nearby community. Certainly not a bad thing...that is unless the only other attendees are other authors trying to "market" themselves. Then this becomes a waste of time and money.
Or maybe marketing means you pay for an ad on a social media platform, and hope that you generate sales from that one action.
Whatever your current thoughts are, I want to challenge you to think differently. Why? Because if you choose to do things the same way that everyone else is doing it, then you will only obtain the same, minimal results.
You might sell a book here and there...but is it continuous? Is it enough to help you become a full-time writerpreneur? Are your current marketing endeavors something that can be used repeatedly, year after year? Do you have a simple, basic formula for generating great results time and time again?
More than likely, you don't, especially because you're just entering this journey of writerpreneurship. The good news is that you don't have to struggle anymore with this challenge. And this is why I want to give you this Empowering Post, because it's time to revolutionize your marketing endeavor, and Pinterest is the tool to use to make this happen for you.
Here's the Best Way to Market as a Christian Author
Now we get to what I believe is the most important element of today's post. I want you to know that the best way to promote yourself as a Christian Author is by employing content marketing into your writing ministry.
I address this topic here, but let me expound upon it all the more.
Content marketing is your way of creating a consistent form of material that can be shared repeatedly with your ideal audience. This type of content is both useful and engaging, and will somehow convince your readers to purchase something that you're selling. Here's an example of what I mean.
Let's say you have just finished writing your book and you are ready to publish and sell it. Typically, new authors will simply share a "Buy Now" link on their social media platforms with the hope that someone will do just that. When nothing happens, then they become frustrated with people. They start saying silly things like, "No one ever supports me" or "Maybe this isn't the will of God for me."
But that has nothing to do it. It all comes back to understanding consumer behavior and knowing what your ideal audience is willing to purchase. In addition, it's all in the way that you market or present your brand and products to your audience.
A better way to say this is don't rely on that strategy for selling your books, because it doesn't yield the best results.
Using this same example, let's say you employ content marketing as a pre-selling strategy for your book. You might create a launch sequence in which you will write a blog post related to your book; then you might host a LIVE webinar session about your book's content; and then you might create an online launch event where you sell a select number of books to your audience.
In this case, you're not simply throwing your book's link out into the dark spaces of Internet land. Instead, you're using content marketing methods (blog posts, webinars, events) as a tool to "on-board" potential readers into buying your book.
Now, with content marketing, it will require more time and effort on your end. The benefit of this type of marketing, however, is that it can be used and re-used over and over again. In other words, you can use the same content and strategy as often as you want, because they guarantee results. You can create blog posts today that can be shared to new audiences years later; and because what you construct is useful, people will purchase your book for years to come.
Now, if you're wondering which type of content marketing method is best for you, I argue that blogging is the answer. Why? Because you're a writer. Therefore, you need to showcase your talent in a way that potential buyers will want to glean from you. I'll use my own example.
Back in 2016, before I decided to create my Empowered Writerpreneurs Program, I made the assumption that if I developed this product and posted it for sale on my website, then visitors would automatically purchase it. I didn't realize that I needed to do more in terms of marketing that would convince new Christian Authors that my online school was the perfect fit for them.
So, I decided to start blogging about my school. I wrote articles such as this one, this one, and this one, which gave prospects an opportunity to learn why enrolling in my training program was necessary for their success.
I also hosted a few webinar presentations, which enabled me to answer many questions that new Christian Authors had regarding the industry. These LIVE video presentations helped showcase my expertise and authority in the Christian self-publishing industry.
I created all this FREE content as a way of selling my product. As a result of employing content marketing into my writing ministry, I generated sales. And this strategy continues to work for my business. Eventually, I won't have to work so much on constructing the content for marketing, but will simply need to share and re-share it for future Christian Authors. While it did cost me a lot in time and effort to build all the content I currently have, the payoff is ongoing.
You see, with content marketing, it's much more labor intensive for the creator. We have to conduct research. We have to do interviews. We have to construct the free content, often times with no actual guarantee that our product will sell. We have to make the free material just as good as the paid products so that our viewers come to say, "If the free content is this good, I know the paid resources will be even better!"
Content marketing helps us to establish trust with our readers, and there are a number of blogging statistics that support these claims. For example, online consumers are more likely to purchase products from online businesses that have a blog. Why? Because the blog is like a behind-the-scenes look at what you can expect to receive when you purchase the big-ticket item. And this is why content marketing is the most effective, cost-efficient strategy for new Christian Authors.
Instead of wasting your time trying to garner a larger crowd on social media, you can focus on building your online home base (website and blog), and generating organic traffic to your site. From those FREE visits, people come to learn more about you as a Christian Author, and then they turn into loyal readers and buyers...if you know how to work this marketing method well. What Does Content Marketing Have to Do with Pinterest?
Now here's where I help you make sense of best marketing practices using a powerful online tool, Pinterest.
If you're not familiar with Pinterest, I share more about this topic in this post.
In short, Pinterest is an online search engine where you can find articles related to thousands of topics. It's a place to curate the best articles related to whatever area interests you and your ideal readers. Because Pinterest relies heavily on visual content, bloggers and other content writers create images on their sites, which can be saved to a Pinner's board.
This means that when you write a blog post that relates to your book, you can create a "pinnable" image (like the first image in this Empowering Post), and save it (using the Pinterest save button) to your Pinterest boards. Your followers on Pinterest will see that you have added a new pin (which is linked to your article), and once they click on it, will be directed to your blog post.
But Pinterest can help you accomplish so much more than that, and this is what I want to help you understand as well.
Driving Traffic to Your Website Using Pinterest
In the previous section, I shared with you that by publishing your article on Pinterest, this can help bring your followers to your website. This is what is meant by driving traffic to your online home base.
To help you understand this concept a little more, here's a visual of how this takes place:
To begin, you need to create a Pinterest image for your blog post. You can use a FREE software program (e.g. Canva) to help you design great images. On your photo, you want to add your blog post's headline. Once created, add this image to your blog post before you hit "publish."
From there, you can go to your published blog post's page, and save that Pinterest image by taping on the "Save" button. From there, you will be directed to save the image to one of your boards, which will appear on your Pinterest home page.
Now, if the last section was a little bit confusing for you, that's OK. I simply wanted to show you how sharing your content on Pinterest works. There are many more steps involved in the process, which will take time to develop. I just want you to see how articles from various blogs get published and shared on Pinterest. And once they are posted on a writer's board, these articles remain in Pinterest land forever!
This is vastly different than posting on Facebook or Twitter. These two platforms have a much shorter time span. As soon as you publish your content on them, your followers have but a few minutes to see it before it disappears from their newsfeed.
With Pinterest, you can post your article on Monday, and it can appear again in your followers' newsfeed weeks later! The lifespan on Pinterest is AMAZING!
Building Your E-Mail List Using Pinterest
Another powerful benefit of using Pinterest for your marketing endeavor is that it can help you build your e-mail list. In this article, I taught you why having a mailing strategy is important to your writing ministry. This is the most effective method for maintaining consistent communication with your ideal audience. And the best part is that you own that list.
Your e-mail marketing strategy is also connected to your blog, meaning every time someone comes to visit one of your posts, he/she should be given an opportunity to join your list in some way. Here's my example.
I have a pop-up form that asks you to join my mailing list in exchange for accessing my free training. When you sign-up, your e-mail is added to my list, and then you are given immediate access to the free course. Once on my list, I am able to send you daily correspondences related to building your writing ministry. More specifically, each person on my mailing list receives my Morning Motivations, which are 10-minute video presentations that give you a behind-the-scenes look at how I'm building my writing ministry. These lessons are designed to give you quick tips to implement for your own work.
But how does Pinterest actually play a part in this? It's like I mentioned earlier: When you share your blog post on Pinterest, a follower (or random visitor) will click on one of your posts, which leads them to your website. From there, that person has the option to join your mailing list, usually in exchange for some type of opt-in offer.
The more people that come to your website and blog from Pinterest, the more opportunities you have to get more members to join your mailing list.
Generating Revenue Using Pinterest
Now we come to the business aspect of Pinterest. If you use the strategies that I've already mentioned in this article, then you are guaranteed to generate traffic for your blog and website using Pinterest. But how do you turn these Pinterest visitors into actual paying customers? How do you effectively sell your books to the readers who connect with you via Pinterest?
The answer involves a more meticulous strategy based on a proven method for guaranteed sales.
See, I told you that it was a bit more complex and meticulous than you think. This is why you don't see very many Christian Authors excelling in their writing ministry, because only a small fraction of them are willing to invest in their business and to learn how to market and sell effectively.
Too many Christian Authors want to build wealth in their writing ministry the fast and easy way, but that's not how this works. They want to throw a picture of their book cover in a social media group, expecting 100 people to buy that book simply because "God told them to write it."
But, Dear Writerpreneur, no one cares about that...not even your following of Christians. Every consumer wants something that will benefit him or her, not you. No outside buyer will purchase anything from you just to "support" your work. You have to remember that you're in business now, and your desires do not take precedence. It's the customer's desires that matter firstly. They are the ones with the money in their wallets, and it's your job to convince them that your book and your products are far more valuable to them than the cash they hold.
