Greetings, Dear Writerpreneur,
I pray that you are well.
Welcome to another Empowering Post, where I teach you valuable lessons that will impact your Christian authorship.
For today's post, I want to share with you how you can accomplish much as a writerpreneur, even if you're working on your business alone. The many successful entrepreneurs that you hear about will attest that the bulk of their success is due to the team they have in place. I know this all too well, because my team of writers have been instrumental in my business's success.
But bringing on team members is not something that is in a new Christian Author's budget; and it may seem that without this type of support, her authorship will never grow.
However, that does not have to be your story. In fact, you can accomplish so much as a writerpreneur, even if you work alone. You simply need the tools, training, and operation system that will make everything you do prosper.
In this article, I want to show you why this is possible with the help and training you receive in my Empowered Writerpreneurs Program. It wasn't until I discovered how much more I could accomplish as a writerpreneur if I simply put everything together systematically.
In this post, I will share with you how I accomplish this each day, and then I will tell you how you can function more productively with your business with the aid of my school's empowering lessons and coaching.
So, let's begin.
Creating a Systems of Operation as a Solo Christian Writerpreneur
Let's get into this teaching with a brief summary of a "systems of operation." When you research the term, you find that this phrase best characterizes a program system that runs on a computer. It manages all the other programs on the computer to help everything run smoothly.
As a writerpreneur, you can have a type of system and operation management "program" that enables you to function more efficiently as a solo business person.
The principles of systems and operations management is what I want to teach you. This involves developing certain skills for running your business, for problem-solving, and for critically analyzing what will and will not work for your authorship. The purpose is to help you manage all facets of writerpreneurship.
Here's an example of what I mean.
For the most part, I manage the day-to-day operations of my company. I compose the majority of the blog posts--the ones that are specific to this blog. I manage my social media accounts and engage with my following. I handle the finances. I run the online network and manage the online school.
With everything that I have to administer, it can be difficult to ensure that everything is working smoothly. And if I'm not careful, I can hinder my progress if even one element is out of place.
In order to simplify my workload and to accomplish the most each day, I created an operation and management system that works for me.
For example, instead of manually posting my social media posts every day, I've opted to use Buffer.com to schedule my posts and have them shared in a 90-day rotation. As my business grows, I will move on to another powerful social media scheduling tool, MeetEdgar, because this system will loop my scheduled posts so that everything is re-shared without me having to do anything ever again.
Here's another way that I brought management to my workload. Blogging is by far the most important element of the business. Without my blog, I wouldn't earn an income because I wouldn't have clients or students in my school. Therefore, having a great blog is crucial.
The challenge with blogging, at least for me, is that I spend about 2-3 hours on each blog post. It's important that I present high-quality posts that are based on research and best practices; and then once I compose the content, I have to generate the graphics to make it appealing for you.
You can see how easily 2 hours pass just from composing one article. And because I invest so much time in my blogging, I realized that I needed to create content that was evergreen and not simply trending material. In other words, the articles that I write and publish today, I can share again and again for years to come because the content is relevant and useful.
In addition to this, I limited the amount of free content that I would share with my audience to 80-90 articles. That's it. I can't expect to earn an income unless I put a price tag on my premium products and services, and put limitations on the free material that I will give. And because I've completed writing this set of evergreen articles, I don't have to write anything new for the public blog. I simply re-share all empowering posts in the 90-day rotation I mentioned earlier.
This 90-day rotation also works in congruence with the launch of my open enrollment for a new set of EWN Members and EWP Students. In other words, everything is moving in the same cycle. And this brings continuity to my brand and also relieves me of the pressure from working alone on my business. This is how I manage my workload.
Now, if you're thinking that your management system does not need all that organization and structure, I want to challenge you to think differently. Every successful business will do something similar because it wants to work efficiently. You can really observe this type of management system in the fashion world.
Every season, you see a similar style of clothing emerging. I purchase my clothes from White House Black Market (r), and every Spring, the same type of pants and color scheme is marketed to me. It never fails. Every Winter, the same type of formal dress attire is marketed to me. It never fails. And every so often, this business will introduce a new pattern to me; but the structure and quality of their materials remain the same.
As a consumer, this gives me a sense of predictability and confidence in that clothing brand. Let's say I miss a season in which I could have purchased something that I really wanted. I know that the next season around, they will bring it back. And this actually compels me to remain loyal to their brand.
In like manner, adding continuity and management to my business gives my audience the opportunity to receive my free and paid training on a cycle. Let's say that you're not ready to enroll in my school for this season, that's OK because you know open enrollment will occur in another cycle, albeit with a higher tuition cost. But the pattern and rotation is there, not just for my sanity, but for your benefit as well.
So, you want to consider how adding this element of structure to your writerpreneurship will work wonders for your business and brand.
Even if you're working alone, you can still accomplish much. But you need a system of operations in place that will make this possible.
Why the EWP is Perfect for Solo Christian Writerpreneurs
Now that you have a better understanding of a management system, I want to show you how the Empowered Writerpreneurs Program can help you develop your own.
Firstly, the Program is designed to help you get things in order. You will learn about the principles of authorship and running your business. You will learn about blogging, researching, and marketing. You will have the wisdom and insight that's needed in order to move forward in your writing ministry. Laying this foundation is important because then everything else that you do will fall in line with your business's mission and vision.
Secondly, the Program includes my coaching. If business organization is not something that you are particularly skilled in, my training will help you create a system that works for you. I will help you map out your annual business plan. I will help you learn how to create evergreen materials. I will show you how to market your brand automatically. And even with a small budget, I will show you how to outsource administrative tasks while you focus on your larger, more important projects.
Thirdly, the Program brings a great deal of clarity to your business. There's nothing more frustrating than not knowing what you need to do each day in order to reach your goals. You need direction on this journey, and the Program does that for you. (Read this article to learn more about this specific topic.)
Lastly, the Program is created specifically for solo Christian Writerpreneurs. I developed the school with this in mind. I not only wanted to make it affordable for you to enroll in the Program, because I understand that you are just starting on this big adventure; but I also wanted to make it so that you could manage the workload on your own until you were in a position to hire others.
The reason I was able to develop my own operation system was because I took the lessons I learned, and then used them to build a management system that would work for me. And guess what?
I am more productive. I know exactly where my business is going. I have clarity with my brand. My network and student enrollment continues to increase. I have brand partners. And I know exactly what I have to do every day in order to reach my goals.
When you're in business for yourself, there's no one to tell you what needs to be done. There's no specific blue print for making your business a success. Every brand and every organization is different; and that means that each one must develop a system that will help it increase.
And my school will help you create your own management system that will give you more time, more productivity, and far-greater returns on your investments.
You Can Do This!
Don't let the business aspect of writerpreneurship overwhelm you. That's not what I want for you. But understanding how to function properly in this industry is crucial if you want to thrive.
You can do this, but you need the support and training that will help make this possible for you.
A little later, I will share with you how you can get started in this process, but for now, let's chat about today's post.
